Heads up, I'm planning on sending out 100 emails very soon. If you're reading this thanks to one of these emails, I'd love to hear your feedback in this thread or in a thread on the feedback forum. For everyone else, here's what the email looks/looked like:

Hey [USERNAME]! Guess what? A new Aion fansite, AionBlah.com, is now ready for you to explore!

The domain name might sound familiar. It should, as it's been around for quite some time now serving as "the other Aion fansite" for English-reading and typing Aion fanatics. Just recently, however, has it gotten a facelift and come under new management!

"New management?" Why yes, AionBlah.com is now administrated by myself, Mark, previously the administrator of AionSource.com. Unlike AionSource.com, however, AionBlah.com is not looking for approval from NCsoft. AionBlah.com is a much more free-form community, similar to L2Blah in its approach to in-game "politics". We also don't censor criticism of Aion, NCsoft, and other websites and individuals associated with the game.

Stop on by and check out AionBlah.com when you get the chance. If you choose to register, you'll be one of the first thousand members on the site and part of a close-knit community. A community of free-thinkers.

Also, I just added Google Analytics to AionBlah.com, so I'd appreciate it if you disabled NoScript for at least that. Then again, I wouldn't run NoScript here at all, due to how many of IPB 3's features rely on fancy scripts.

Seems fine to me. Very basic mission statement, a little background, if you want to come visit, welcome. If not, do nothing and you'll see no more.

Yeah, I already had to disable most of no script.

As for the email, it'll work fine. It is really hard to put together just what Aionblah is in comparison to other sites outside of what you already stated. People will come, they will check it out, and if they don't like it or the way things are run here, they'll just leave. We can hope for the best, though, that like-minded players and users will find their way through the tubes here and not only like it, but fit in well.

Nope, AionBlah was run by Amplified for a while back in 2006/2007/2008. It went offline for a while, shut down.

Masa bought it from Amplified in 2009 and gave it to me later in the year.

That is a must IMO.
Also, instead of NoScript used AdBlock Plus; It does the job for me and doesn't interfere with Google Analytics.

oh so this is why aionblah exists, I thought it was just another fan site for a while. I didn't mark 's ownership of aionsource was taken away by the curse conglomerate.

fuck curse, they were awesome back in the vanilla wow days, now they're just a bunch of conglomerate profit driven aholes.
