So, just a question:
How viable are Spirit Masters in this game? I haven't played one, and wont be able to this beta round as my internet connection is a fucking durka durka service, so...
I've asked on other forums, but the best response I got was:
"Thats a stupid question, why would they make a class that wasn't any good. But, role a Sorc.".
So, mainly I'm wondering because usually game's make summoner's kinda shitty. I just want a pony dammit! Any details about thier PVP ability is greatly appreciated as well.

SM's are bloody solo monsters in pvp who lose only to sorc' and rangers. They have several fear abilities, allowing kiting, they have a silence stigma which is great, their pets are very powerful though they dont fly. Instead they have servants which are orbs that damage people, they can fly. In the air they are still powerful, just without pets and their water pet has the ability to knock you off wings so you dont have to always fly to chase someone. Their damage is mainly from DoTs and isnt as direct as sorcerers but that makes them great in 1v1.

Omg lyub. Very good post!
I totally love my SM, while I only got to 19 in the beta, apparently the SM gets ALOT better at level 22. Its already really easy to play. If you spend some time (20 minutes) grinding on some easy mobs you can get your DP to 4000, then just use your DP buff skill to buff your pets up. Go grind on some tough mobs and if you don't die (and you shouldn't) you can easily rack up another 2000 DP within the ten minutes allowing you to chain together your DP skills for ultimate Grinding sessions.
I did that for like 2 hours and levelled up really easy.

SM are pretty pwnage but not really my style
. At higher levels (30+) you're pretty much one of the pro PvE classes, if you're grinding in the Abyss you're
able to get shitloads of DP and since SM have an op pet buff that pretty much doubles the pets damage and HoT, don't expect much downtime except for the
mana consumedby the DoT's and CC's (which use quite a bit I might add).
To be honest in the mid/late 30's though, you might start to get frustrated by the seemingly low damage compared to any melee class (Assassin's killing mobs
in ~5 seconds anyone?). Not to mention getting killed in 1-2 skill chains by Assassins.

Sin is the field PvP king. In the majority of situations you cant expect to last long whatever your playing, so its not that great an example.
SM has some nice skills, way too weak in co-ordinated mass pvp for me - always gonna be a easy route to PvE stardom though.
1v1 its great, but as people keep reminding me (arrrgghh) this was supposed to be RvR so other classes are stronger in that respect. I'm guessing very late game their lack of DPS and support will be alot more noticible.

Funny how the only thing that ended up being revolutionary about aion was how many people quit in the first week.
